THANJAVUR

 THANJAVUR TRIP:

On my 8th summer holiday, we went to Thanjavur for a vacation. There I visited many famous places and most importantly I get a chance to visit the famous temple in Tamilnadu known as Peruvudaiyar temple which is now known as Thanjavur big temple.

And then I visited few more places in Thanjavur such as Saraswathi Mahal library, Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal, Thanjavur Maratha palace, Vennar river.
Now let us see about my vacation enjoyment in these places.

Thanjavur big temple:

The Thanjavur big temple is also known as Thanjavur Brihadeswarar temple and Thanjai Peruvudaiyar temple. It is one of the unsung world wonders with many unknown architectural secrets that still keeps the people excited after 1000 years.

The most suprising factor that I saw in that place is "the shadow of the  kalasam of the Thanjavur temple will not fall on the ground. It is still a mystery for the researchers. It highlights the architectural mystery of the chola era.

This temple is the first complete granite temple in the world with more than 130,000 tons. The relation between the temple and the Tamil letters has fascinated us.

The height of gopuram is 216 feet which is total number of Tamil alphabets in uyir mei ezhuthu . The chola Kingdom is over but the temple built by them was still ruling our heart with many mysterious facts and wonders inside it.

Visiting there makes me feel cherish and fresh with lots of positive vibes.

Saraswathi Mahal library:

It is also known as Thanjavur Maharaja Serfoji 's Mahal library. There we can see the rare collection of palm leaf manuscripts and paper written in Tamil, Sanskrit and a few other indigenous languages of India. It is one of the oldest library in Asia.

Apart from the manuscripts there are 1342 bundles of Maratha Raj records available at the library. By visiting there I gained good knowledge about ancient manuscripts of our tamil.

Thanjavur Maratha palace:

This palace was originally constructed by the rulers of the Thanjavur Nayak kingdom. The palace complex consists of the Sardar Mahal Palace, the queen's courtyard and the Durbar hall. Even the Saraswathi Mahal palace is situated within the Thanjavur palace complex. The royal palace museum contains a splendid collection of chola bronzes. There is also a small Bell tower. This is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever seen.
